I Guess It Wasn't My Time

Like I said, I've turned left at this intersection many, many times. The vast majority of the time, the light is red when I come up on this intersection and there can be 10-20 cars in the inside lane and one, two or none in the right lane. The road I turned on leads to the cruise terminals in downtown Galveston, so it is a very popular road, especially on weekends. If you don't catch the green, the next green takes what seems like 5 minutes. I will continue to use the right lane as I almost always do and, like I always do and as I did in this case, I expect idiots will ignore the two signs and I react accordingly. Thanks for the advice, though.

Thanks for posting this. Gave me something very important to think about. I use the right lane in those kinds of situations quite frequently. From now on I will remember this video whenever I have to decide which left turn lane to be in. Glad you were paying attention. This could’ve ended very badly for you.

Regardless of the signage.... I would never turn left from the right lane on a bike....I am not going to give someone an extra opportunity to be stupid....

Sorry OP but that one was on YOU not the guy in the blue car. Sign or no sign, arrows or no arrows, I don't need either to know that it's dangerous and illegal to make left turn from the right lane with a bike OR a car! I would think that was common knowledge. You do know what the solid white line means right? If you were allowed to make a left turn from the right lane then there would be a broken white line all the way through that intersection meaning you can turn left from either lane. Nope, you own this one.

Using that far left lane to set up your turn would be more along the lines of defensive driving.
Still no guarantee...I've had people cross over clearly marked signage and double yellow lines do that same thing to me.
It would be his fault, but your funeral.
