I started with a frame and engine, from a local guy, then bought the rest a piece at a time on ebay, and a few online swap meets.

I build bikes from "scratch".

Oh, with the "death of the bicycle industry" thread above. I thought this was a pedal bike forum!

MY bikes don't look like yours!

But who’s actually just started with a frame and built their bike from the first nut and bolt.

What makes me think of this is when I was working at UPS a custom bobber frame came down the e reg belt from a frame builder in Wyoming.

Just curious as to not only getting to pimp their Harley. But to getting down and building one the way they like from day one.

Wiz Out
How far back do you want to go ??

Built this 1952 pan from the gound up in 1978, had the crank balanced, rebuilt the trans with andrews gears, did all the body work and electrical. Painted this at least 3 different times. Was running 70 over dome pistons. Changed it over to a shovel top end, and still have it but now it is blue and has sat idle for over 20 years. Its on my hobby list to fix it back up.

And all this time I thought that the only way to have your own was to build it. I currently have two that I built with the help of swap'meets, and independent shops. No wineing about the Dealers or factory screwin up stuff. And never worried about cuttin out on a two week ride to anywhere. 3 of my builds are in my gallery, knuck, pan & pan shovel, no longer have the ps.

Actualy that frame was built by a guy named Hal Hammer in St. Louis. He only made two of them and i found the second one hanging from the rafters in a auto scrap yard 10 years after I got mine up and running

I was building bikes on the Kansas City side of the state in the 70's & 80's, were a lot of good custom guys around St Louy area.
