Default 1998 Anniversary RK

In 1998 a friend bought a new 98 RK Anniversary Edition probably thinking it would be valuable one day. He had it serviced every year. The local dealer would come and pick it up, service it and then return it. Now he wants to sell and they will only give him $5K for it. I called another dealer and got basically the same thing. Looked online on Cycle Trader and I see some listed from 6 to 8 K with the lowest having 28 thousand miles. My friends has less than 200 miles. My question is, when would a bike like this become a collectors item or will it ever?

Default 98 Anniversary

It will become a collectors item when his grandchildren are old.. Harley years ago produced limited runs of bikes. My father bought a 1985, 85th anniversary FLH Electra glide, my younger brother still had it. Each dealer got 1. They were a numbered run of about 850. My dad paid almost 12k back then which was alot of money. Today it's worth approximately 7-8 k on a good day. The more bikes produced in a limited run anniversary model or not, the less they are worth..Time will tell..

Might do a little better out here on the west coast where that color scheme is more popular. But it's not worth a lot more than that, even with the low miles. But they made a lot of those 98, 03, 08 etc models.

I have it on good authority that the 90's will never be back.

This is funny.

I wonder how many of those bikes are still out there...the ones that were bought as "investments" at the top of the 90's bubble. Probably thousands.

Yep. I remember when someone would wait for a year to get an $18,000.00 Heritage, then put it up for sale the same day for $23,000.00 and get it.

They could be "investments" if sold quickly, but those days are long gone.

Yea, I remember a Heritage Springer at a dealer the owner was selling because he did a 'nosie' in
his P-51 Mustang.
Said a prop was $22,000 dollars and he had the Harley priced that much.
I believe the Heritage had 500 miles on it

Naw; people don't fall for that "anniversary" crap anymore, ever since the '03s came & went.
Meanwhile...$23,000 for a PROPELLER??!! Hole crapoly!

Yea, I remember in 98, when I bought my sportstet, there was a springer heritage on a raised platform and 25k sticker on it. Loved the bike and had a huge hard on for it, but would never pay that much then.

OP, good luk.to your friend trying to get "allot" for it.
