The other reason I dumped the Twinkie is its depreciating like a stone and bound to give me mechanical problems like any other machine man has made.

I have to add that the sound, feel and sensory input you're treated to really put the damper on my RK. I dont do group rides or road trips so the vintage bikes are perfect and money in the bank. My particular 62 was a tank shift police bike that was converted to foot shift. Ill be correcting the travesty this year.

Can't really go wrong with an older bike if you buy one thats correct in the important details.

Why not go with old style paint and accessories? Seat, grips, wheels, boards, muffler would be a good start.

Life is much too short to ride something you truly don't enjoy. Go for it.

For me, the Road King can't be beat for long rides but it's usually overkill for short hops.

There's a lot of options out there that are more fun for around town riding.

I've got the old bikes, but ride a 10 year old xbones. If it breaks down and I have to leave it and it's not there when I get back, it's insured and can be replaced. My knuck or pan would be gone and would be hard to replace. Find a evo or twin cam that trips your trigger and go for it.

At 500 miles per year (?) you can ride whatever you feel like riding..... (I still miss my '83 Shovel even though my '00 Road Glide has certainly served me well the past 165,000 miles.)
