Hard starting loud noise 2012 cvo st glide
Greetings
I have a 2012 cvo street glide and I recently had it in a harley repair shop regarding a loud noise upon starting the bike. Prior to going into the dealer I had checked the battery and terminals and all were fine. Upon bringing the bike into the shop I was informed that the battery was bad ??? and that do to the cold cranking amps not being adequate it caused a problem with the clutch. The clutch was replaced as well as the battery. Fortunately I had a extended service contract so I only ate the battery. Fine. However I got the bike home and the next day when I went to start it the noise was now louder than ever.
I am bringing it back to the shop and have requested another mechanic work on the bike. Any thoughts?
Thanks

It's the battery. These small batteries do not check well. When they get weak, all kinds of bangs and kickbacks. Piles of starters, compensators and such get sold. If the compensator was so weak the starter would bang it, ever time you came off throttle quick, it would bang, not to mention shifting it hard.
It won't hurt the starter clutch. It's a sprag lockup. There are pins sitting down in a low area that drive in start direction. Light springs keep them there and of course when driving, cain't slip. When gas motor starts, if you were to leave button-down, gas motor spins faster then reduction starter and rids up out of the drive and it just freewheels.

The next conversation starts with an explanation as to how they plan on making this right. Their professionals misdiagnosed your problem, recommended a costly solution that you had to fund, and are now responsible for the outcome.
Give them a chance....if that doesn't work....give 'em hell.
