1966 HD Sportster XLCH input
Hey, I知 new here, and a new Harley Owner.
I recently inherited a 1966 Sportster XLCH from my father in law. I知 trying to decide if it is worth restoring/ value / what I should do with it.
does anyone have any feedback on this type of bike? Rarity/ value etc.?
The Bike appears to be have all original parts except for the K&N air filter and possibly a new carb. It still runs and rides, less than 10,000 miles on it.
thanks in advance.

Very nice bike that’s really close to being stock. Hard to find that complete anymore. I think I would clean it up and ride for now. Find some original tank decals and restore it to original color and refine the stock pieces down the road. That will draw a crowd either condition at any bike night.

That my friend is a BIKE. Im also in NJ and if you need help with this, I'd call Chris and Cheryl over at Mayhem on Rt1 in S. Brunswick. He is THE Shovel guy and works on stuff like this all the time. His work is great and is reasonable. This just needs some love and sorting out and you will really have something.

Exactly. I would spend time riding it, see if you like it. Do lots of research in the winter, get the owners/service manuals, slowly start replacing fluids/gaskets and seals, see what parts are available in you wanted to replace anything electric. But it really looks in great condition, not a trace of a leak anywhere! Maybe you already know a lot mechanically, but if not, you are fortunate to have a great platform to wrench on and learn. Thanks for sharing.
