Blowing rock is where my wife and I like to stay when riding the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I rode 171 miles of twisty hilly roads in East TN, Hwy 68 to Crossvile, then hwy 70 back to Ten Mile. Beautiful 80 degree day.

260 yesterday back home from Blowing Rock. Rode down 321 towards Lenoir for some great views, and took a detour up 268 which is as pretty an NC mountain valley as you’ll ever see, and a great ride, back to Wilkesboro then down 16 to Maiden to visit the folks at Mean City Cycles.

Then I crossed Mooresville at lunch hour, which was terrible. It put that fan assisted oil cooler on my police bike to work.

Just as an aside, For those of you who fondly recall the tiny little hole in the wall breakfast joint on Mainstreet in Blowing Rock named “Sonny’s” for the owner (and served liver mush!), I was thrilled to learn his cook, Tim, from 1979-1995, is still cooking in Blowing Rock at a nice new place where Knights on Main was. It’s called Social on Main now, and been beautifully remodeled, like the rest of Blowing Rock these days. He owns/cooks/runs the place. GREAT breakfast, and lunch. Closed on Wednesdays.

Sonny opened in 1954 and cooked till he died in 1999. Tim went on to run Knights on Main down the street, and more recently Sunny Rock, next to Foggy Rock. Then that owner decided to retire. And Social on Main opened this past December.

Tim still serves up Neese’s liver mush on the breakfast menu.

I travel up that way mid-week because all of Blowing Rock gets crazy busy on the weekends.

We did over 100 miles over the weekend on the 1970 King of the Highway. Friday and Saturday at Oley PA AMCA National Meet then a Sunday brunch run back on our island to Toast in Bayshore. I forgot how good their food was, will be back.

Golden hour on Friday

Shadow Riders

Saturday with my buddy going back to Oley, pic from the truck following us.

Wednesday May 1st

The Carolina Girl and I took Belinda for an evening dinner cruise. We ran up to Darwin's in Yadkinville to eat. Then we rode downtown Mocksville to the station for a beer. There were three guys on bikes that are Combat Veterans. It was nice speaking with them. They all served in Iraq.

Total miles = 48

5. To gas up, and road test the police seat I slightly modded. That seat is what it is.

33 to work, 33 home for lunch because it was 82 and sunny and I wanted to get out of work 😂, 33 back to work, 60 home on the long way. Hard to park it when it’s so nice out.

Went to take the Ultra out yesterday and it would not start after sitting 10 days.
Got it charged up and am going to ride it to pick up a new battery today.

I should have tried starting it before I washed it. lol
