Default Flat spot in acceleration

I've noticed this for as long as i've had my bike. There's a flat spot at one point during acceleration and it sort of agrivates me. What are the causes for such a thing?

Sounds like you need a proper tune.

You certainly need to get into the carb and change the jetting.

Well, I know it is running rich..my service manual is coming in Thursday and if it explains how to do it, i'll try re-jetting the carb as soon as I can get the jets.

The thing is, I don't understand how it would need a smaller jet than came stock (which is what I believe is currently in there) by having V&H Long Shots. On the other hand, they could just have it tuned wrong because someone has played with the carb before, because the idle is adjusted pretty low.

Is the flat spot at WOT or part throttle?

It's at part throttle. It seems like it's right around half throttle.

Reading a bit, the needle seems to be my problem area.
