Default Dealer Trashed My Bike

Hello,

I’m looking to this forum for the best outcome in this situation and what should my expectation be. I have my 2020 heritage picked up for an oil leak. In conjunction, the shop looked at some other things. Today, I got the bike back and it has been damaged pretty good. I called the dealer and will hear back on Wed on the process going forward. The front fender has nicks on the front and back side, the fender has multiple deep scratches, the frame has a gouge by the clutch cable adjustment (in the paint), the heads fins are scraped there, the tank is scratched and nicked on both sides, the rear jugs top cover is scratched up and the hub was covered in fluid (hopefully suspension fluid because I did have them check the brakes). The bike has 476 miles on it and I won’t be riding it. I did make a video to cover my bases. Anything else that I should do? Expect? I feel like I should call my insurance just so the estimator can evaluate the frame. I’m not trying to shoot for a new bike here but I know frames are delicate when it comes to motorcycles and titling them.

The motorcycle is spending time at the shop. I’d say, considering some of the posts here, the situation went quite well with the service department. They are replacing the damaged components, going to touch up the frame with harleys paint for that intended purpose, and they will go through their process in order to fix the body work to make it correct using a tiered process until it’s satisfactory. Hopefully have it back soon!

Give the dealership a chance, before jumping on a forum...

When ever I drop my bike the service advisor walks around the bike and looks for visible damage. Did they do that? Thats really your proof that it happened under their supervision. Good luck!

Man, sorry to hear that.

Document everything, and don't let up.

Over 15 years ago a dealership scratched paint, broke a lens and glued it back together, and a variety of other things on my Road King. When I let them know, they denied it all, and said I should talk to my wife, she probably did it.

I was calm, but firm with them and kept on them about it, providing photos and regular phone calls. They finally paid for getting most (not all) of it fixed.

I hate to paint with a broad brush but most Stealerships suck.

There are some good ones here and there - but they are few and far between.

Call me cynical, but if you don't think they did anything wrong to you - it's too late; they already got away with it.

I trust they’ll will. I know mistakes happen but this appears a little overbearing.

You got the bike back today (Sunday,) with 5 separate areas of damage? Was there any record of what the bike looked like before you took it in?

My dealer goes over the bike with a fine tooth comb, and documents everything when I drop it off. Therefore, there is no debate if something happens. I hope they did this. But still, give them the opportunity to make it right. But, those are random damages...it’s not like it happened with one drop...

I had it picked up but the dealer. I’m not sure if they went over it at the shop before working on it or not ,but I did not go over it with the driver and sign something, I trust they’ll make it right. I guess, what is right is my question for the forum? For example, the nicks down to metal from taking off a gas tank, I’m not willing to accept a dabble of touch up paint. Go a step further, I opted in for the dealer service plan when I rather just handle that myself now with this experience.
