Yeah, I’ve done that… Except I went from north to south… If you fuel up in Shoshone you’ll have enough fuel to get you all the way to Beatty... it’s not that far… Make sure you take the road through Badwater, because that’s where you’ll see the real desert... But As Trigeezers map shows, there is fuel at furnace Creek… And a nice little store that you can get water and snacks at

Of course make sure you take water… But here’s a bit of advice… No matter how hot it is at furnace creek… Don’t spend any time in the air-conditioned restaurant… The heat will kill you when you come out... If it’s a burn down day, a way to beat the heat is to wear a long sleeve T-shirt that you got soaking wet, and put a light jacket over top of it… As the water evaporates it will pull the heat from your skin… Just like having air conditioning.

Couldn't disagree w/ that more, as it may save your life. Make sure you've read up on signs of heatstroke, its no joke if it starts to set in.
Though I like higher octane like most, going thru DV any gas was fine by me.

One better than the wet T-Shirt is a cooling vest. They will last a couple of hours most of the time. I usually take mine into the bathroom when I get gas and soak it good in the sink. Makes riding in the heat much more bearable.

I have been meaning to buy one of those and try it… But my experience in motorcycling tells me the following...
people that get cold, hot, or wet when they ride… Simply don’t know how to dress for the weather.

I lived in the Mojave Desert for a few years. The blacktop roads can get scorching hot too. Prepare for the worst and pray for the best. If you stop along the road, watch for poisonous Mojave Green snakes, and maybe a scorpion or two. The Tarantula's are harmless.
