Anyone use Damp Rid to help remove excess moisture in the air. I was thinking of using this product in my detached garage to reduce moisture while my bikes are in hibernation over the winter months.
Wouldn't you need one the size of a 50 gallon drum to do a garage? Im just thinking for comparison if you had a dehumidifier running, how long would it take to fill up the bucket vs that little thing full of beads?
I use one of the big bucket style Damprid. It will last the entire winter and into the spring. I use one on each shed. My sheds are 6x8, 8x10 and 8x16.
I do try to keep them set away from the bike just in case it gets spilled.
I have used it before. Don't know if it helped or not. I keep a 100 watt droplight laying on the floor sorta under the side of the bike. I have done this for years without a problem..
It keep it just warm enough to drive away moisture.
I use it all the time. I buy the closet dehumidifiers with the membrane on top. When they are used up, I pull the membrane off at a corner, dump the liquid and refill the solid from the refill bags, then duct tape the membrane corner back down. I use them in my gunsafe and in cars that just sit. And I have one of the open bucket types inside my bead blaster. Keeps the beads nice and dry so they flow better.

Do you check the humidity level in the shed and how are you determining that it is doing anything or lasting a specific amount of time?
how much humidity is there in NY in the winter? Shouldn't spring and summer be a bigger concern?
I keep a hygrometer on the wall here for acoustic guitars, too little humidity in January is my problem, not too much
Humidity isnt the issue, its the temperature swings and the condensation they cause. Pa sees day time temps in the 30s and 40s then it drops down in the teens and single digits over night.
I've walked out to my shed in the afternoon on a 35–40-degree day after a night down in the 20s and my bike was literally dripping from condensation.

The bucket has a full mark on it. Once it gets to that level you toss it and replace it. Over the winter it might gather and inch or two of moisture, come spring and summer it fills up much faster.
