Default Amazon FIrestick question

Am i the process of converting from ROKU device to Amazon Firestick and have a slight problem.

The ROKU device will power ON and OFF my tv
The Firestick will power ON my tv but will not power it OFF. Perusing the documentation available it seems like this is the way it is supposed to work. I have been able to locate documentation on its ability to turn the tv on but nothing is said about turning it off.

My Firestick is relatively old (couple of years) so it may be an issue with old devices. There is mention on the forums about a 4K version but I am at a loss as to what version I have. Nothing on the device or its remote or available documentation suggests its version.

Can anyone help me with my dilemma?

Your firestick should be able to turn your TV on and off.

If the one you have is 4 years old or so, I might recommend you purchase a newer one - there have been so many changes. When I went t update one of my old ones, it told me right away that there was not enough room to do that.

Got a new/updated one and all worked well. In my opinion, you will not need a 4K - unless you have one of those bit 4K TVs.

Here is some bad news. My Firestick does not have a ON/OFF button It depends on the device it is plugged into. Your comments made me starting to think about what the problem is.

Both the ROKU and FIRE STICK are plugged into a receiver. When I turn the receiver on it triggers the device to turn the TV on. When I turn the receiver off it triggers the device to turn the tv off. The ROKU does this just fine. The FIRE STICK does not.
My FIRE STICK is old so I am going to update it and see what happens.

cycle7447 Thanks for the comments. It made me think about what I am doing.

Easily related. I use my firestick to watch the bagger races.

Rusty500 - glad I could help. Go to Amazon, get the Amazon Firestick - HD. With prime day, it is currently $17.99. I believe that will do all you need. Plus, that little blur button allows you to give it commands.

Do you mean you are not using the Firestick on the Harley screen? What do you do while the bike is "driving" itself?
