Do the fork braces really do what they advertise they do - improve handling, tire wear, etc.? I would buy a set for my Deuce if I was sure they worked.

 

They are absolutely worth installing.
As for working, yes indeed.

One tip I often offer is to get you bikes front off the ground...
Have someone hold the front or tie it down, then flex the front wheel with your hands.
Now do that same thing with the forks braced.

There are tons of ways these braces help, especially on the bros with those troubled front fenders.

 

We used to only use them in the old days when we extended the front ends. When you should feel you have a problem is when you go into a curve real hard with Extended tubes. Other than that why do you need to make the front tubes stay together .

Braces make sense, but before I shell out $200 I want to be sure I'll notice $200 worth of difference.

 

You should know better...why would the MoCo shell out anything when people are willing to pay extra for the item?

 

Take yer bike on the interstate or to the country, Go pretty fast and go into the curves as hard as you can. See if you feel yer forks flex too much. Not yer frame. If you don't feel yer forks flex I wouldn't spend the money on them. But if you put 4-6 or more extended tubes on yer bike to raise the front end up, then when you go into the curves real hard you can feel the flex I'm talking about and you can put them on. I had em on my old sporster in like 1975.
Don't ever remember anybody puttin em on a springer front end, My buddy had a 16" over springer too. That bike would work yer butt off.

 

i honestly would go with a steering stabilizer first and i beleive their cheaper too.Are you tring to eliminate a problem you have with your front end? if its high speed woblle i would go with the steering stabilizer. now if your feeling flex in fork wich the showas are pretty good about having little or none. hope this helps also check around before shelling out 200 you should be able to find a set alot cheaper somewhere

 

The V-Rods have them built in. Most all sport bikes have them built in. All racing bikes have their forks braced. If you like to push your bike on the twisty roads you should definitely add a fork brace.

 

If you have a high speed wobble go with forges wheels 1st. If yer hammering it and when you let off the gas you feel it wobble its yer spokes flexing. Forged wheels are the best choice in wheels.

 

Let's put it this way...
My 2000 FXDX can jump RR crossings with the forks braced.
(Several bros in these forums have seen me jump with it.)
There's a lot of added weight on it, dual front setup.
To do that with a 700 pound bike you do have to be a nutcase but you also must have the forks braced.
