Default Chrome finish cracking??

What would cause chrome finish to crack??

A buddy of mine has an 05 RK (purchased in April of this year). It's not just one part thats cracked it's happening all over the bike. By his own admission he has not cleaned his bike as regularly as he should. But by not cleaning the bike be enough to cause it??

I'm a little concerned because I have ordered an 06 Street Glide, I'd hate to have the same thing happen.

Thanks!

BE HAPPY!!!! You now have a pefect excuse to get rid of the chrome and go back to all paint, they way Harley's were originally, and the way they SHOULD be!!!! The little chrome the MOCO put on my bike is the only I have, and will replace with paint, as needed. Already got rid of the chrome oil filter and went to black paint, looks SOOOOOO much better![&:]

That's odd. The only time I've seen chrome crack is on really really old car bumpers, where it kind of checkers like a spiderweb.
