Default Damn speedometer

I rode the bike this morning to the stealership to get the broke speedometer fixed. The service dept. just called me and said the speedometer has to be replaced and that part cannot be rush delivered. They can't move the bike because of the odometer has to be set with the old mileage. The part will take 7-10 days to come in so no riding[sm=headbang.gif]

that sucks. at least when you get it back youll take a nice long ride to make up for that lost week

my speedo cable (yes, analog! omg) broke and i am at least 300 miles behind my actual mileage. but on a bike as old as mine no one cares

You rode it after the odo broke, didn't you? You've done put miles on the bike so it ain't gonna be 100% correct. I'd tell 'em to put it together, go get it, and tell 'em to call you when they have the part.

Also, upgrade to the Speedo, tach combo. Might as well if you have to replace the speedo anyway.

They 'can't' move it??
Yer kidding right??
Are you honestly relating that you intend to allow your dealer to TELL you you can't use your own bike?

then again - if that is the case - the dealership backroom is prolly thye best place for that scooter . . .

They are feeding you a line of B.S.! All they have to do is record the current mileage and have the new speedo reflect those miles. After all, how many miles can you put on in 10 days? I'd say a thousand at best. Thats really not going to make any difference to any one. When I ordered my new speedo from the dealer, they recorded my current mileage and added 500 at my request and all was well. Tell them to put the bike back together and go ride it!
