It seems HD is the master of salesmanship as we ALL stampede toward HD clothing products.
I don't believe other bike manufacturers have any kind of marketing system that even come close.

I wanted to buy a Friend of ours some Honda stuff. Not much to be found except for local chapters
who get their own stuff made, IE bike type specific. Valkyries etc.

I have 1 HD jacket (bought at the tent sale 70% off deal)and the other are non HD . HD gloves from ebay..... somet-shirts a sweatshirtthats about itfrom HD

 

T shirts and heated gloves, that's it.

 

You must have bought your bike from a private seller. If ya had bought it from a dealer you'd know it's a serious violation of the rules! They could go so far as to take away the bike if you get caught without an authentic HD jacket!!![sm=icon_rofl.gif]

 

I've owned a lot of leather and I have to be honest the HD stuff is really on the spendy side. But my Screamin Eagle Raceway jacket is also one of the best made leather items I have ever owned.

 

Yep, I confess......2K in HD clothing and I don't regret it.

I didn't buy an imitation bike, so why buy imitation clothing?

 

Nothing is funnier than when you pull up next to a guy on a sportster and he is head to toe in HD gear. I always assumed he had to buy the sporty because he spent so much money in the apparel section of the dealership and couldn't afford a bagger!!

must be nice to live in a part of the country where you have choices! here, if you don't want hd leather, you are either buying it online or getting it from one of the metric shops, or local pawn shop. the metric shops have all that super expensive joe rocket/vanson/etc power ranger type stuff. the pawn shop has the super cheap (not inexpensive) off brand stuff made in indochina, and i prefer being able to try stuff on before i buy. yes, i know some places like fox creek will send you stuff to try on before custom making your jacket, but that can be a pain in the butt.....

i have 2 leather hd jackets. and while some may say that you can buy better quality elsewhere, i find that hard to imagine. there is a lot of work put into these jackets, and many small details that just say 'quality'. and the best part? i bought both of them off the clearance rack. one jacket i've had for about 4 years and it still looks new (course heavy leather riding season here in louisiana runs from nov-apr) and i just bought a perforated leather jacket about 2 months ago (model was instinct, i think) regular price was 375 and i got it for 97.

and neither one of my jackets 'scream' harley davidson. the full leather one does have it embroidered in script on the back, but it doesn't have any other big logo or anything taking up the whole back. and the perforated one doesn't even have anything on the back (kinda defeats the perforation) but has 'harley davidson' embossed in the leather down the front right side. kinda have to be right in front of me to see it.

so if you are patient, you can get hd leather for a very reasonable price. if however, you find you gotta have a jacket now, then you are kinda stuck at what the market has at that moment.
