I went to 3 auto stores looking for my mobil 1 20w 50 v twin and no one had it. So I got Valvoline 20W-50 synthetic. Has anyone else used this and if so how do you like it? Thanks.
I use Valvoline products in the cage but the 20w50 has been analyzed and doesn't have an additive package close to M1 or the other JASO rated motorcycle oils. You can use it but don't go beyond 3-4000 miles because the add pack will wear out faster than the other MCoils. Frome the Valvoline website:

SAE 20W-50: Exceeds all car and light truck manufacturers’ warranty requirements for the protection of gasoline, diesel and turbocharged engines where an API SM, SL, or CF oil is recommended. Exceeds European ACEA A3/B3/B4/C3 and meets the performance requirements for BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volkswagen, Volvo and other high performance vehicles.

The MoCo calls for a HDEO CF-4, CG-4, CH-4, and CI-4 rating. Rotella 15w40 meets these specs as does Delo or Delvac. Valvoline says this is API CF but it is definitely made for water cooled automotive engines. So be careful and don't run it too long.

One thing for sure in every oil thread, some Amsoil dealer/user will tell you any other oil is crap and only Amsoil is worthy. Got news for ya....If ya change it often enough you can probably run anything. Buddy just had his engine remanned at 238k, My evo has 144k on it. What do we use? Castrol GTX 20w 50. That's right..car oil. regularly changed at 2500 miles. Now my aim is not to flame amsoil users but If you change as directed, any modern brand name oil will work just fine.

Very true! The 2500 mile change is the secret if you use car oil. Lots of guys use Havoline 20w50 and change every 2500.....Advance Auto just sold all their HAvoline 20w50 for $1/qt on closeout. I went there to get some and there were 2 guys that bought it all just before I got there. They were using it in their bikes. The Mobil1 15w50 from WalMart will 4-5000 and when my redline runs out that is what I am switching to.

I put 95,000 miles on an E-84 Evo and used Penzoil 20W-50. Changed it every 2500 and never had ONE problem.

Oil change is cheap insurance.
