H D made in Japan?
I hear that all front ends, out side of the Springer front end us produced in Japan. Is this true?Just like when you buy from Harley(accesories),like pegs, mirrors & the like there made in China. For example I bought mirrors & the Harley box read "made in China".They cost $75. I bring them back & got American made & the Harley box read "made in the U.S.A" at $185.So my ? is what % of my bike is American made?[sm=WTFsgign.gif]

Some guy that bought a Harley a few years ago for some 20000 bucks put up 25000 more just to get US made parts to replace non US oem. He wrote in the atricle that Honda was bulit from MORE US parts and it was that that triggered him to build an AMERICAN Harley. But it was costly...

Can't we have something just to our selves. Does a Honda have any American parts?

I am not bothered at all by the amount of parts that are made in Japan; they have provided us with so much electronic wizardry since WWII that we probably wouldn't have much of the modern conveniences that we have today without them...not to mention how much our space program or military would suffer.
I do have a problem with the 'Made In China' label though as they are a communist nation and are known for stealing trademarks and patents.

RE: H D made in Japan?
I was disappointed the first time I placed a wrench on my Harley to learn that the reason the wrench didn't fit was because the nut that I was attempting to loosen was METRIC! WOW! I shouldn't really have been surprised. I'm well aware of our global economy. But...this was a HARLEY-DAVIDSON for pete's sake!
My second disappointment occured when I got home with my first newly purchased gen-u-ine HD piece of chrome. Once out of the box I discoved that not only had the part been manufactured in China, but it was only chrome-plated PLASTIC! Considering what I had paid for it, I was pissed. But then all HD parts and accessories are grossly over-priced, buts thats a subject of another thread at another time.
