Default New Experience...

Hubby and I did about 435 miles this weekend...
About 200 was a ride to El Cajon, CA with some of the forum members, then we split off to ride up the coast.

We decided to have a romantic night and stop along the beach. The challenge was finding some place to stay. I wasn't thinking and wondered onto a little island called Balboa. WE stopped and called around to local hotels. i popped it in to the Zumo and it said it was 2 miles so away. What I didn't realize was that it was across the little bay. To my surprise we arrive at a little auto ferry. It was either get on the ferry or ride around....

Soooo we decided to geton the ferry (this is not a big carr carrier ferry...it is completely open and only holds 3 cars). Rolled on down the tire track on the left which is raised about an inch above the decking and found that if i put the kick stand down and leaned the bike it almost slipped off the track [&:] I just really prayed for a smooth ride across.

Here are some pictures of the ride across the bay...was definately an experience.

This was my Dinner...A romanouski (Hot dog, 2 hamburger patties, swiss, and kraut on rye.

As a side note we traveled today across a land slide. It has been sliding forever very slowly. There are big signs warnig bikes and motorcycles about a land slide but there is no cliff to slide. The road there is very unevenand being constantly repaired. Here's some info on it: Portuguese Landslide

Bike ride and boat ride on the same day. Through in some good banjo music and you've got a perfect day.

Like 2 ships passing......

We took 5 hours to go up the coast from Balboa (113 miles)...We love to just meander. Probably passed you somewhere...did you see 2 white bikes? Made the mistake of hitting PCH in Santa Monica...it was a traffic disaster. So we went up Topanga Canyon and an RV stalled on the 2 lane twisty road ....so we waited there too.

Got to be 97 in Agoura Hills.....I was pretty hot and tired when we got home.

Sounds like a nice ride. I live about 20 minutes away from Balboa. You reminded me that wifey and I gotta go there again this summer.
