I took the advice of so many HD Forum members and purchased one of the DOT Carbon Fiber helmets by ACC. I was pretty pumped to get "the worlds smallest DOT helmet". Well, after getting it in and putting it on my head, I can now say it isNOT the worlds smallest DOT helmet. Its the same exact size and weight as my AFX DOT, and the lack of padding makes it even more uncomfortable than the AFX. I'm not sure what the craze is withthe ACC helmet, but I'm not convinced. Its no different than any other DOT approvedhelmet I've seen,,,except its $185. I guess I'll just have to deal with the "mushroom".

Anbody got any other suggetions for smallDOT approved helemts? Novelty helmets aren't really an option in my area right now. This time of year the cops start cracking down on the helmet laws. Guys I knowhave been pulled over just for helmet checks. Not sure if thats legal or not, but its happening.

That ACC is the best your gonna do. If the helmet must be DOT apprroved and your bothered by the size, find a different state.

 

I love my ACC Helmet. I guess you just can't please everyone, but there's a lot of fans on this forum.

When talking about DOT and non-DOT helmets, they are all basically made from Fiberglass. The non-DOT helmets being made cheaply and without the aid of high pressure. Which is why DOT helmets are so much safer and more durable. Also, most Non-DOT helmets have a very cheap headliner material for the liner. We use an energy absorbing foam called Ensolite for our liner, while still being comfortable it offers energy absorbing properties that headliner material does not. Resulting in a small but safe helmet.
