More Harleys on the road.

More Harleys on the road.
Rather than flying from AZ to Texas I decided to drive. Couldn’t help but notice that 90% of the bikes on the freeway were Harleys. How do the metric companies keep it a float?

$4/gallon gas can help a lot of guys convince their Ministress of Finance that a bike makes sense. And since every guy wants a Harley, it kind of all makes sense.

Sturgis? Or lack thereof?
Just a guess.
Momma and I have put on a lot of miles the past 3 weekends, 100 mile radius, and I'd have to say they were even or maybe slightly higher metric #'s. But I attributed that to Sturgis. But after I saw the Sturgis #'s, maybe assumed too soon.

Several explanations:
1. Harleys are built to last and don't change their image very often. You could be seeing Harleys built since 1987 and you would be hard pressed to tell the year.
2. Metrics don't have a long service life. Especially hot rod ones. Their owner's tear them up, then park them.
3. Who wants a metric when they can afford a Harley?
4. Harley riders tend to ride for a lifetime. Metric riders view their bikes as toys. Not true in every case, but I think the majority are like that.
