Default cheap alternative to HD digital therm. dipstick

I had been thinking about buying the HD digital thermometer dipstick, but could'nt see spending $99.95 for it. Was at Wal-Mart the other day & noticed they had a digital cooking thermometer for $10. I thought, this might do the trick. I really don't need one that stays in the tank anyway. I works great, has a 5 inch probe & give your reading in about 15 seconds. Then just slip in in it's plastic sheath which has a pocket clip.

The guys at the dealersip don't reccomend the HD digital temperature dip sticks because they aren't reliable, plus you need to change the battery every so often.
When I told them I was going to buy a temperature dip stick, they told me to buy the analog model since they were reliable.

I had already made up my mind to buy the analog model because I read on here what everyone was saying about the digital model (it sucked).

Don't like that term cheap, Bob. I like frugal better.

It's only cheap if his OL gets the leftover $90.
It's pretty smart if he spends the extra $90 on more bike stuff.

Did you get a free pocket protector with it?

What is wrong with the thermo in the top of the stick? No batteries, you can see your temp. at a glance.

I don't get it. Is it for one use at a time or are you duct taping it on?

Why not splurge for $29.00 or less with a discount.

Get the analog one. It is only $20 and works much better than the digital one. Lasts longer too.
