Easy question to answer. Because your wife is the best salesperson Harley employs, and you will pay it.
I just got a set off of Ebay, boards, pans, chrome covers, brackets, and saddlebag relocator kit, for $160. Keep an eye out. It took a while to find that deal, but occasionally they're on there. Good luck!

Found a set at the dealer on the bargain table. Paid half price but when I got home I realized they were for up to 99 but my ride is an 07. Went back to the dealer to figure out what mounting hardware I might need to use them and discovered that they are the same as the new ones. Found the inserts I wanted on ebay for $35 so all total I paid $135 plus tax.

Got a nice looking black set for an 00 Dyna that I want to use on my fat bob off the discount table. He wanted $80.00 but I said that a buddy was going to have to fab me some mounts so he went to $50.00 cash. Can't figure out why the HD mounts for the Dyna say not for Fat Bob.

floorboards
Two years ago I priced the floorboards and by the time I added all the part #'s up it was about 400 dollars. Last year I was browsing the catalog and saw they had come out with a new item. Passenger floorboards, all the necessary parts and the price was only 149.00. I hauled a** right down to the dealer and bought a pair.

Custom chrome has some for $50-75 that look okay, but function perfectly. Wife loves them. I have a set of Touring pass boards somewhere if I could find them. I'll take a look this weekend.

Now you know why the streamliner boards are the first thing to go off my StreetGlides. No freaking way Im gonna pay that much for the rear ones. Especially as they are such dinky little things, about half the size of the standard boards.

I just put them on my Road King Custom last night. I wanted them for the wife before the trip to Milwaukee. I got the sweep back ones to match. Our dealer had 15% off during a open house. The whole set up was $340.00.
