Thunder in The Smokies. BORRRRING
Thread may be 5 years old but it still requires a comment. I live in the northwest corner of SC. Matter a fact I live just 100 yards off Hwy 28 and just 20 minutes from the mountains. I've lived lots of places that I enjoyed but I must say that my present digs in the foothills is one of the greatest places to live and ride a bike. The scenery is bitching and the roads twisty. Even though it's past mid Nov., I'm still riding in the mountains around Clayton GA, Highlands and Cashiers and points north.
I enjoy biker rallies and vendors as much as the next guy, but those type things don't even rate up there with riding, to me. The ride is what it's all about, that, and the people involved in the culture that you meet along the highways and byways. Even the *** holes you encounter usually have an interesting back story if you can get them talking about themselves.
I'm perfectly happy with a clear day, the ole lady and that familiar rumble between the legs and of course an endless, twisty stretch of blacktop ahead.
