WTK: How to Dull Chrome like Exile?
I would like to dull some of the chrome on my Night Train. Exile Cycles does this with most of their bikes.
I'm sure Russell starts out with a chromed piece and dulls it up somehow. Anyone know?
What's the best method to dull, without looking brushed? Maybe low PSI bead blasting or .. ?

Russell Mitchell and the Exile gang are doing theirs with Scotchbrite pads. It is a brushed finish. Wet sanding with 400grit will result in much the same look. Just be careful not to go through the chrome plating to the bare metal. 600grit would be a nice but finer finish.

I like the looks of your Harley. It's nice what you have done to it to make it your own.

SPRINGER, thanks for the comment.
I'm not looking for a brushed look but more of a dulling of the chrome. Maybe I'll give Exile a call, who knows, I may get someone cool who can explain the process. It also depends on what they are dulling, is it aluminum or chrome? Are they starting with a shiny piece or ... ?

I don't think they start with much that is chromed. I know that they often use a ceramic coating on the exhaust rather than chrome. Most of the rest of the pieces probably start off as polished aluminum.

I have no clue how to help you with your question, but being that I am anti-chrome I thought you should know....
I love your bike. Just looking at it I feel like I am cheating on my wife.
Looks great man.

Some of the old brake cleaners or even brake fluid can dull it up over night also if you dont want the brushed look, or like someone else said, wet sand with a fine paper, it should take the bright sheen off without leaving a brushed finish
