40, 60 or 70?
that's right
it's january
and that means it's winter here in chicago
and right now it's snowing
and i completely bored
so here is the question (and boy is this lame)
when you put a light under your bike, under the cover, to keep the moisture off it when it is in the garage
what wattage
some have said 60
others 70
someone said 40
what the best
any conclusive experiments?
boy is this lame
if i don't get to ride soon i am really going to loose it

I don't think I've ever heard of or seen a 70 watt bulb... Typically just see the standard 40, 60 & 100. Maybe I've just been over looking them when shopping for bulbs.

Uhhh, I use that thar "Hot Dawg" ceiling mounted, kinda light, in the 45,000 btu LP model via a Dayton commercial thermostat. I can keep the Crisis Center at 30*s if I choose. But it is normally set at about 40. Come home, reach in, turn stat way up, come in, make pot o' java, go back out, close to, if not, 65-70. I was gonna put in a mini-split A/C last summer, BUT we never ran the house a/c ONCE last summer. So kinda toopid to put one in the Crisis Center (LAST SUMMER, anywho Nother one comin', tho. )
I'm a feared if'n we tried the 'light under the blanket' trick here, be sorta like fartin' in a 90 mile per hour wind, and then tryin' to smell it. Not a lot of progress with either. Even usin' a 300w.
Before I had heated shops, had to 'cold store' my scoots. If we were gonna have a 'warm day' in the middle of winter, I'd cover them with several blankets, TO KEEP THEM COLD and keep the 'warm air' away.
Then when it was FINALLY warming up outside, get them out into the sun pronto, to warm them as fast as possible, to prevent that condensation. Was not always a perfect system, by anyone's imagination. But they survived, and so did I.
IF you live in a 'swing' state, where it is cool at night, and then warms into the day, gotta be 'tough' to keep the condensation off. Seems to me, you folks iz s'posed to 'ride the dew' off. That's what God gave ya 'warm' weather, for. Ya'll might wanna stop snubbin' your noses at 'im, , and RIDE.

I don't fuss with a cover, so I don't have to worry about condensation and stuff like that. My bike sits uncovered in an unheated garage. I've never seen anything on the bike but dust, which isn't gonna hurt it.

That breathable cover doesnt really work when the bike goes from -10 to a blast of 50 degree air during a sudden warm up. You may want to take a peek under there when that happens. You will have condensation.
That low wattage bulb sounds pretty good, but I dont know about leaving it unattended all the time.

Just like walking into the house from outside with your glasses on.
COLD item hits WARM air.
