Default Getting my 99 Fatboy swingarm chromed.

I am sending my swingarm off to get chromed and wondering if there is anything I should be worried about or any issues I might encounter. The place I am sending it is a very reputable shop. I took it off and plan on putting it on myself. Thanks

As long as they know what they are doing...
I know a guy sent his master cylinder off for chroming and when he got it back he found that they had chromed all of the internals as well, so that the piston would not fit the bore! Chromers are famous for losing small stuff but they should be able to keep track of a swingarm.

I am intersted in cost also. I am doing a swingarm for my 05 Heritage. I have an extra swingarm so I don't have my bike torn down waiting.
How are you stripping the powdercoat? Make sure that the chromer masks the 2 bearing bores or the bearings won't fit back in the bores. You will need to chase out the threaded holes with the appropiate tap to clean out the threads.
Up here in Orygone we have a cromer called Star Bright that I hear does good custom work. I think that is who I will use.

That's what I am talking about! My membership to this forum has already paid off. I would have never have figured to have them plug the holes up and I would have tried to put a circle in the square hole.

There are only two places in my area that do chrome and they charge about $250.

I was planning on sending my swingarm to a local shop for sandblasting and then send it to the chromer. Fortunately, my friends father owns one of the chrome plating companies in my area. However, they send the stuff out to get prepped. I will do that myself and save them the headache since they are doing it for free.

Thanks again for all the great advice.
