What is "Parade" riding?
I know what a parade is (like the Rose Parade)... But what is a parade ride like for a motorcycle? Specifically, my bike has the Engine Idle Temperature Management that deactivates the rear cylinder when at idle or when in a parade... So in a parade, does that usually mean that you're in gear but not giving it any throttle at all???

Around hear parade riding is just that, no more than 10mph, generally axle to axle riding and you can count on plenty of stops along the route. The Rose Parade in Pasadena would be a good example.

Pretty much, the rear cylinder deactivates to help cool the engine. See people pushing their bikes up Lazelle street in Sturgis all day. That's so the engines don't overheat.

Here's the Cap'n and me, in "Parade Mode". AND don't need no puter or fuel management system, to get there.
We either roll thru with the Color Guard at the front, or we are the 'last' bike(s) in the Abate Group.
IF we know there are going to be a chit pot full of kids, then we throw this in, too, OF COURSE, with the 'obligatory' 5#'s of candy. A few times, when $$ allows, we even hand out small American flags to the kids, as we go by, peshally if we are up front with the color guard.
BUT we have never once had the panhead drop the back cylinder. (WELL, least ways, by design. )
