Default Tire & Tread Depth Gauge

I am hunkered down in my bunker, with GREAT overhead protection.

Just purchased HD's Tire & Tread Depth Gauge with lead (75137-98B). Using the tire & tread depth gauge (no instructions supplied) feature:

Do I test: left outside, right outside and the middle of the tire for the tread depth? Or just the middle?

I N C O M I N G!

Thanks

What ever you do, remember where you put it for safe keeping.
I got one, used it one time and have never seen it again.
Serves me right for thinkin' I need one.

Measure inside, middle and outside. Add them together. Multiply times 4. Divide by 6. Now round up to the nearest 10th. There you go.

Stick a penny into the tread with the top of Abe's head facing into the tread. If you can see the top of Abe's head you should be heading (no pun intended) to the tire shop.

One of my friend's dad used to keep track of the tires on his mustang that way to see if he could tell how much rubber my friend burning off.

Check the center in a couple of places. Replace tire when there's 2/32" left.
