Default SE Stage 2 vs. HQ and other builds....

Hey everyone,

I received an email from a local dealer saying they had a special on installing a SE 103" Stage 2 kit with a SE download for $1600. I don't need the download or the a/f included in the kit due to me having a pc 5 and a SE heavy breather kit so I am sure I could probably get it done in the $1300 range. I am not aware of any other dealers or Indy's in the area having any special deals on installs but was wondering how that price would stack up against an HQ 103" stage 2 kit or other aftermarket options? This is definitely outside of my comfort level so I will have to have it installed by someone. I would like something that has a little more power without giving up alot of reliability. This is for a '09 fatbob that is my daily transportation when the weather is nice. Thanks.

It all cost money. I would do it again! Big difference in the ride!

I'm very happy with my Stage II build. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

HQ parts are going to be very expensive. It's been a while but I added up the parts for a 107 and it seems like it was close to $4000.00, the 103 was only about $50 less. I will be looking into the price of an Edelbrock build. They've been in the performance motor business for a lot years.

I'm curious why the HQ build is so expensive. I've been researching options and like what I see and hear about the HQ kits. Are they much more expensive because they are that much better?

This is all new to me and I'm trying to figure out my best options or at least the smartest questions to ask the mech. I don't want to go cheap but I don't want to way overpay. I'm looking for a significant improvement in performance (partially defined by me as very smooth at a crawl in 1st gear, able to zip around traffic on the express way and a deep sound without terrorizing the neighborhood). Right now I have a mostly stock TC-88B w/the typical dealer work on the air box and pipes. The bike has 70 K and I've really enjoyed it but I to inject a little more thrill into it.
