I screwed up my windshield
I put a new windshield on my old frame last night and noticed a little teeny spiderweb crack by the outside screw. This morning it was about an inch long (going toward the outside). Is that going to break? I'm going on my first long ride tomorrow and don't need a problem

Drill stop it.....I had to do this on my heli. side window. Take the smallest drill bit you can find, drill a hole near the end of the crack (I had to drill 3). When the crack reaches the hole it will stop.
Use high speed but drill slowly, not applying to much pressure. It works and is not to noticeable.

Sweet, thanks for the information. I do not have a crack on my windshield but I will store this in my memory bank.

works great on fatigue cracks in aluminum, too. Used it on a plastic/padded '68 Ford dashboard "back in the day", and many windshields. The concept is to take the sharp end of the crack and turn it into a circle so there is no one point for the crack to continue on. Main thing is to make sure the crack is contained. I use a 1/16" bit and drill the hole about 1/16" away from the end of the crack. The crack will come to the drilled hole/ Twirling a conterbore against the drilled hole on either side to break the sharp edge helps also.
