I almost forgot to say that a stickier tire is a better choice than lowering air pressure. I don't know what bike you have or what kind of tires on them, but I never run stock tires as they find them to be lacking in the stickiness department. I'd rather get less mileage but feel more firmly planted on the ground any day. Since the tires are what attach me to the ground, they are definitely worth a few extra dollars.
