Default Tire Pressure?

okay, so i put a new pair of shoes on my baby today. one thing that i haven't seen addressed in any of the recent tire threads, tire pressure.

i put a set of the dunlop e3s. what pressure do i inflate to? stock suggested? or go with a couple pounds less than the max as indicated on the sidewall?

i figure i'm gonna start at 36/36, but adjust if necessary.

don't know that i'll be able to try them out today, raining..... supposed to rain for the next 5 to 7 days

thanks

i usually do 36/36 unless i'm loaded heavy or with a passengar, then i might bump up the rear tire pressure. With my stocker Dunlops at 40 psi the rear tire feels too hard, and i like to feel more "give" if that makes sense.

yep, you like a 'little more cushion for your pushin'

thanks guys, i think i'll stick with the 36/36 that i'm at now, and increase it to 40 in the rear if need be. i ride solo 100% of the time, so the only time that i might need to go that high is when i install the tourpak and load up everything for a trip.

i did get to do a quick 20 mile test ride, the new tires are awesome. bike feels like a whole new bike right now. i'm also thinking that they screwed the pooch on my last back tire. never noticed it before, last tire i had i got free installation, but today did the labor myself (cheap bastage ) and there was 9 (yep, nine) 1/4 oz weights taped by the valve stem. i took them all off today, put the dot by the valve stem (didn't have one on the front) and did not notice any bouncing on the test ride, got up to 80 and felt smooth as glass. i'm a happy camper...

40/40 (which was per the dealer recommendation) and around 25 in the shocks (which was from here at the forums). Really smoothed it out for me (granted, I'm around 260 on a good day).

i always go a cpl lbs over the recommended and get longer tire life and a good ride. Example if it says 36/40 i run mine around 38/42 or 39/43. Iam getting longer tire life and better ride. Not to mention the book HD manual bases most everything off a 150 lb rider i believe so little more psi for the average guy 200lbs id say helps the tires out.

A great place to start is Dunlop's website, where you will find that information!

I run 36 front 40 rear with my E3s. I run 15lbs solo in my shocks and 20/25lbs when 2 up on a trip with the wife. I,m just over 7K on my E3s and hardly any wear yet.
