I'm going to be hauling my softail in my truck in a couple of weeks. I'll be tying it down with ratchet ties with a block under the frame so I dont have to compress the shocks. For those who have done this, do you need the front wheel chocked or id the block and ties enough?

Don't really need a chock, but it would be good to secure the wheel from rolling or turning left to right. I built a chock when I had to haul the bike and bolted it into the bed of the truck. Tie it down good, and don't be afraid to use extra straps, for security and peace of mind.

 

I haul mine south all the time to the lot on the lake 1200 km's (745 mi.) 1 way. I need the pick up to launch the boat ya know! 2 ratchet straps from front crash bars, 2 ratchet straps rear passenger footboard mount, block of wood with rubber screwed to it to save the bottom paint AND I use a homemade wooden front wheel chock. The chock serves 2 purposes, it holds the wheel firm and straight and it keeps my front bumper on the Ultra from rubbing on the fuel/tool box.
