No 2010's on the floor at Laidlaw's

No Deal
I just got back from Laidlaw's. I have had money down for the 2010, just in case I liked the new 2010 FLTRX Road Glide Custom. I got a call from jerry Laidlaw over the weekend. He told me that they had the 2010 in stock and wanted me to come down to take a look. And if I didn't like it, he said that he had a Great deal on the 2009 they still had on the floor.
I got there and Laidlaw's had several 2010 models on the floor. I looked at the 2010. It was OK, but I liked the 2009 better. I told Matt, Jerry's son, that I wanted to hear the "Great Deal" Jerry had told me about the 2009 they had on the floor. (They still had all three regular 2009 FLTR Road Glide models on the floor as was three weeks ago.) He left and came back with what he said was a great deal. It was not, IMO any better than MSRP. I told him that It was not good and offered a counter offer. He said he had to talk to Jerry. I said OK and told him to give me a call.
I got home and there was a message on the phone. Matt had lower the offer just $100 but included a $500 Gift card, good at their store.
I called back and said I was sorry we could not come to an agreement. I instructed him, as per our agreement, to mail my deposit back to my home address.
In conclusion, Laidlaw's is Not making any deals. They are selling at MSRP. Even on year old models. And I saw lots of them on the floor. Over 2/3 was 2009.
I will not make the trip to Laidlaw's any more. It is not worth it. I will check other dealers.

Many better dealers than Laidlaw's in S. Cal. San Diego HD is Great! Got a great deal on my '06 Springer. Van Nuys HD is also great. got a deal on an '05 Dyna there. Bartel's is much better.
Laidlaw's does not know what "customer service" is!

What pissed me off was the outright BS he was passing that I knew was far from correct. I liked the salesmen but the sales manager was an idiot.

I just moved back to SoCal and figure that Jerry has been around the RUBs too long. He thinks that no one has any kind of idea what is happening. I will go and buy a Harley some where else. Some where that wants to sell me what I want and does not expect me to support them by my self.
I have no objection to any dealer making a profit. Just not all of it off of me.

What dealer are you referring to? Hopefully not Chandler Harley-Davidson / Buell?

I just bought a 2010 Wide Glide with flame tank from Hutchins HD in Yucca Valley, CA. I didn't speak to anyone at San Diego HD because their tagged price turned me away. If they are going to mark it up on the tag then I do not want to talk to them. Hutchins 2010 prices are at MSRP and deals can be had. Palm Springs has good deals too.
