Helmet head itch, any ideas?
i have 5 different helmets, and each of them will become very annoying with helmet itch. hygene isn't an issue, as they are all clean and maintained well, and i use anti itch/dandruff shampoo, like tegrin or selsun blue. is it the salts in the sweat that become sort of like an acid and starts eating into the skin of the scalp? any information would be very helpful, as when it's hot weather it's much worse. i'm not bald and each of my helmets is ventillated.

this annoying itch will occur about an hour into a ride, so i'm thinking it's related to sweating. i was actually going to check out one of the sporting goods chain stores to find out what is worn under football players helmets. because i remember playing ball, the head does sweat a lot under the helmet. this occurs also when it's hot out much more than when it's cold riding weather. i just hate trying to slide the helmet foreward to scratch the itch, or even pull off the hiway to get out the comb and run it through the hair. the cotton do rag might be the answer. i gotta get this problem solved, as riding for more than a very short trip pisses me off almost enough to where i wanna pull off at the nearest place i can to throw the helmet in the nearest dumpster. someone out there has to have experience with this issue. my head isn't that weird. and yeah, each of the helmets fit just fine, and i'm not strapping them down tight enough to where they'd restrict blood flow to the scalp at all. thanks guys, i'm surely gonna be keeping my eye on this thread. as far as powders like gold bond, monkey butt, cornstarch etc, i'm thinking it'd mix with sweat and end up looking like i stuck my head in a bucket of grade school type glue. i can get temporary relief if i stop at a rest area and rinse my head, but that's only good for a half hour or so. and no, it isn't lice.
