typical Government boggle. the distilling of ethanol made the price of corn go up. two plants in Missouri didn't last a year after opening up due to it wasn't profitable.

Mileage in my 4 wheel vehicle drops about 10% when using corn gas.

I thought they did not put ethanol in the high octane blend. Do the requirements levels change by state?

I have heard that using Ethanol blended fuel can cause scoring on your cylinder walls.

My 2007 FLHX was getting 48mpg the 1st year or so and lately I'm getting 40 with the same riding conditions and style. I try to sick with newer gas stations etc...
Who knows? just checking to see if it was just me. Thanks!

I didn't notice the mileage thing too much, but what I did notice was the large volume of gas pouring onto my left leg shortly after Ethanol was introduced into our gas.

I had just opened the throttle up after a stop light and my carb gummed up I guess leading to gas freely pouring out of my air cleaner on to my leg and hot exhaust pipes.

I wanted to kick some Ethanol inventing @ss hole that day.

If I am buying gas I want real Gas. That corn stuff is trash some more govmt. BS. It takes more to make it than real gas, I put fuel additive in my bike seems to run ok and better fuel milage.

We've been running corn gas here for decades , trust me you'll get used to it.

All gas in the No. VA area is 10% ethanol, they are not allowed to go above that. As long as the octane rating is what is says on the pump, I have no problem with the ethanol in the gas. I did notice a slight decrease in mileage, but my bike runs fine.

Watch out for the Ethanol because it produces some water vapor during combustion, especially with a carburated motor...Not as much with fuel injection due to atomization of the fuel/air mixture...

It will lower fuel mileage a bit with a carb unless the outdoor temp is above around 80-deg Fahrenheit....
