Man I just got in from my daily commute and the grooves in the road are like trying to ride on the wagon trail. Not sure if this is just an Oregon thing I know I-5 through Oregon has the same deal.

Around here in MD we apparently got alot of Federal stimulus money because they are repaving many roads. And, of course, they are milled, then left for a few weeks before being resurfaced. I'm used to it, but never really feel comfortable. don't know why, I mean nothing bad has happened to me on these surfaces, but feels kinda like the steel grating on drawbridges.

 

PA its a common thing... pot holes.. another story!!!

 

A well designed motorcycle is an amazingly stable piece of machinery at reasonable speeds. Try not to tense up, or worse, fight it. Let the bike "float".

 

Seemed like half the roads and highways around here were in that milled state most of the year...but like someone else said, you just gotta relax and roll with it...glad things are getting back to normal around here, tho...

 

The freeway I ride to work everyday has some deep grooves in it. Everyday without fail I say to myself WTF.

 

Tires can make a huge difference in how the grooves affect the bike. Try the Dunlop E3.

 

Put on a set of Metzeler ME880s and you will hardly notice you're riding on grooved pavement. The stock Dunlops scared the crap out of me the first time I hit some grooves.

 

There are varying degrees of milling for sure. some are no big deal, but others, man I think I'm gonna loose my fillings. Have had some issues with not having a way to get onto the off ramps without having to jump up and inch or two of pavement. Sketchy. Usually this is not a problem, but sometimes it is, and you aren't gonna get anything near a 90 degree angle of attack! Occasionally have had to go another exit or two to get a better situation. I'll just go another way if I can. Problem solved.
