Default Dear Power Commander II users:

So, I have a '99 Road King Classic that I bought 2nd-hand four years ago. It has the PCII installed, but since I bought it, I've swapped exhausts on it, and I need some guidance.

First problem: I never got the cable to link it with my laptop. I know I need a female 9-pin to attach to the PCII, but since my 'puter has no 9-pin socket, are there any options?

Second problem: What do I do after I get that figured out?

THANKS!

That cable is a serial cable. Go to any computer store and get a serial cable to usb cable. You might even find a cheap converter to plug the serial cable into.

save your money on the cable and take the bike to someone who knows, and is already set up for tuning

Careful on the converters. Some work well with PCII and some brands don't. 50/50 shot. Much better if you can find a puter with a serial port.

You need a serial port to usb cable. I have a pcIIIr on one of my bikes and it uses the same setup. Make sure you install the driver for the cable or it will not work. Just picked one up at best buy the other day, but you can get them cheaper on the web.

The PC II uses a standard 9 pin serial cable. USB to serial adapters can be hit or miss and for best results I recommend finding a computer with a serial port. Here is the software you need: http://www.powercommander.com/downlo...iisoft2000.exe

There are also tutorials and information here: http://www.powercommander.com/powerc...downloads.aspx
