"Honey, take a shower.."

"Honey, take a shower.."
I'm a big guy. I like to stay clean. That means I wash regularly (with soap!) and always wear deoderant - most of the time cologne too. I seldom do the typical guy thing and wear jeans more than a day or two in a row, even if I'm just at the office, etc.
I say this to avoid the likely responses in this forum!
Does anyone else get complaints from their wife/gfriend/hubby/boyfriend - whatever - that they smell like a mechanic after getting off their bike?
If I take it out for more than 20 minutes she wrinkles her nose and tells me how much she loves me but can't stand that I smell like leather, oil and gasoline.. Maybe a bit of sweat [8D].
Is this a common thing?? I've only been riding the past week, so I can understand if I'm overworking a couple of gears, riding it a bit to hard (by riding it to light) and pick up some of the bike scents. It's also very hot and humid here in Fla. I tend to wear layers, maybe a safety vest, gloves etc but just find it hard to believe that I come in off the road smelling like a biker bar minus the beer and smoke.
Do they (the wonderful "other halves" in out lives) that may not ride ever understand? If not, there's a long road ahead of me..
Anyone relate?

Yep. If you ride in any kind of traffic, emissions particles from other vehicles exhaust gets caught in your clothing. Kinda like walking through a bar full of cigarette smoke after a while.[8D]
Unless you rolled around in the center lane of the freeway.

I think you're gettin' your leg pulled for some reason. Sounds like she doesn't care much for MCs.
