Default who carries gravel?.....

Does any one carry a little gravel for tailgaters?

I find that tossing a few pebbles up over my head with my thumb (like shooting marbles) gets them to back off.

I've heard about that from some clubers I know.
Never done it though with road rage and everything.

Sounds like a great idea (have had that problem with tailgaters myself many times, and it angers me, too) but it also is a volatile practice. It might get them off your tail, but when they swerve into another lane and take out a car filled with an innocent family...What say ye, then?

No, never. I don't want to get run over by a cage because I scratched his paint.

Yea, pretty much what everyone else said. Someone who tailgates may very likely be an aggressive driver with a bad attitude - not someone I want to mess with while riding a bike.

Might as well put a 'target' on your back...F'n up someone's paint or cracking their windshield might invite more dire consequences than could be caused by 'tailgating', IMHO.

I don't toss more than will sit on my thumb and they can't see my hand except when I get the gravel out of my watch pocket. The gravel and dirt haulers around here throw more rocks than me.

You have to face it, it is a loosing battle. In the end cager always win so just step aside and let them go by or gamble and suffer the consiquences.

Like many others, I wouldn't want to toss anything at a vehicle behind me. He's in too good of a possition to do me harm. I'd prefer to find a safe place to pull over and let the guy by. If I happend to be next to him at a light a little ways up the road though, he might loose a mirror or have a couple boot prints on his door.
