How to get polish off black wrinkle engine paint
#14
Armour All will get the polish out of the crinkle paint. Use a soft tooth brush or a small detail brush.

Wow! On the second page and no one mentioned the best product for keeping black wrinkle parts looking good the best and takes of wax over spill.
Pig Spit is by far the best product available. S100 ain't bad but it attracts dust like a big dog.

And no one mentioned the ever popular PLEDGE! Yes I used it on mine to remove the ages of polish left on then baked in by the previous owner. I warm the engine just a tad, spray on the pledge and let it set a minute or two. Then if needed I use a small soft bristle brush or micro cloth to remove the thick stuff. Spray once more after you have cleaned the wax off, and let it stay there. It will spread out all over just sitting on a warm engine, faster if you run the engine again. Sometimes I'll use a soft bottle brush to push it into and around things. Then leave it alone. Silicone spray works also.

Just when I thoguht I had tried everything (S-100 cleaner and Brightener), WD-40, Armour All, every indistrial cleaner known to mankind (including Castrol Super Clean which is wicked stuff), denatured alcohol, terpentine, laquor thinner, and paint thinner. Soaking, working in with a brush, etc. Nothing would remove it. Some stuff would temporarily make it go away but then it comes back after a ride. I am looking forward to trying "Pig Spit" (if I can catch one and get him to spit), Pledge and Silicon Spray. Hopefully I will have luck with one of those. Thanks
p.s. the wax I can't get off is either Harley Glaze or Harley Chrome Cleaner.

To keep the black wringle finish looking like new i just brush it over with engine oil and wipe off the surplus, keeps it looking good and black for months, although s100 is probably better to sray on the jugs.
