one bikeweek surprize
i went to biketoberfest back in october, so when i went down for bikeweek i was shocked at how few bikes there were on the road. trailers galore, but i was hoping to share the ride with other bikes. i am not trying to start another "trailering is a sin" thread, but what i AM doing is excercising my right to complain a little. my gf was on the bike and we pretty much had to go it alone both ways.
i know it was a little colder than usual, but we dressed warm and did just fine. did anyone else notice once you got a hundred miles or so out of daytona that there just weren't that many riders on the roads?

from the North. The trailers you seen are probably
from colder climes. While you were there, you could
have exercised your right to ask one why they trailered.

If I could have gotten away from work, it would have been necessary to trailer. There is still 2 feet of heavy snow in my yard in northern New York.
Perhaps next year you can make an open offer for us to leave our trucks & trailers in your yard & ride the rest of the way on 2 wheels.

Let's see, the east coast was shut down from a BLIZZARD on the first weekend of bikeweek, I trailered from Ohio and changed our departure time 3 times trying to beat or wait out the snow storms in OH, WV, & VA. & it was only in the 50's in FL. half the week. Yep I don't know why we all trailerd down.
Your kidding right? Sheezzzzz give me a break.

place in Chesapeake, Va, but even that was iffy at times.
Around here you may find snow, ice and salty roads way
into May. I don't mind the cold as much as salt and sand
mixed with wet conditions. Bad for a bike.

I noticed the same thing. Even though this was my first bike week, I was surprised at the number of trailers. I am from Nebraska, so I understand trailering from up north, but A majority of the trailers that I saw on my way back to Alabama had Florida license plates, some AL and GA plates, but most of what I saw was Florida.
I am not sure there is a good excuse for that.
I laughed the hardest seeing all of the people loading their bikes up 50 miles out of Daytona on the side of the road, or at the Flying J truck stop just north...if youre going to ride out of town, why not ride at least until the sun sets and it actually gets cold.
just my .02

Riding motorcycles is not a religion, it is a hobby.

I left from Atlanta on Thursday, Feb 25 at 9:30 am on my Dyna - it was below freezing with 15-20 mph gusts. I didn't pass one single bike until I hit Jacksonville, and they were probably locals. Sure, it was only a 400 mile ride, but no one else did it.
