It seems the recall for the ACC supposed to be DOT helmets has ended. I just got mine BACK from them with a note that said they have reached the point of not being able to refund anymore, sorry for the inconvenience..........

1. Don't take off your helmet at all unless requested to do so by the officer.
2. If the officer asks you to take off the helmet ask him or her why?
3. If they say because they want to examine the helmet tell them that you have been
advised by counsel they have no right to examine the helmet and that you do not
consent to let them examine the helmet.
4. If the officer insists on you giving him/her the helmet, don't argue with them, just
give it to the officer with no further comment.
5. If you happen to take the helmet off because you can't talk to the officer without
taking it off or for some other reason, make sure you put it down with the INSIDE of
the helmet down so that it is not visible to the officer. Do not take if off of the
motorcycle, and again, do not consent to its examination.
6. NEVER consent to a search of your person or your bike when you are stopped. It is
best to affirmatively state that you do not consent to a search of your person or
your bike, but do not otherwise interfere with the officer. Save your arguements
for court.

Advice of Rights card from ABATE of Michigan - they have yet to lose a helmet case in court.

All motorcycle helmets sold in the U.S.A. must be DOT "certified", in that they must have gone through the proper procedures in a certified testing lab to meet DOT standards for motorcycle helmets. Helmets that do not meet the minimal DOT certification standards may not be sold as "motorcycle helmets. Its always safe and good to use DOT certified helmet. I like to suggest a sitenexx-usa.comis the authorized seller of Nexx brand that are approved by DOT and used all around USA.

Thanks.

Dot Helmets

Must be DOT certified? By who? It's up to the manufacturer to put the DOT label on it. Then if it gets tested later & fails they have to correct it. Not all "DOT" helmets are tested, it's the honor system. Yeah, right!

TIA
takem to court. cop likely won't show. they don't want to set a precident. NHTSA says DOT sticker is point of sale requirement only. doesn't have to be on the helmet after purchase.
