Was afraid this was coming. Glad I just bought my 2010 StreetGlide. Said it would be my last Harley and if this happens it definately will be. Wonder if they will put KKR on the gas tanks or maybe a red, white and blue #2!

This is how a corporation dies in the new world order! Leveraged buy out's and the new people skim off what profitability is left and scavenge up what's left to sell off!

Glad I bought one in 2010 also, just hope there will be a viable parts market if MOCO fails.

**** - that definitely wont be a problem...

I think at this point, you could build an entire Harley without using a single MoCo part...

Did they pay back the big loan from Warren Buffet? I remember they were paying huge interest (like 15%).

Rumor. Remember fellas, rumor.

Rumor's move stocks so that the players can sell high and then short the stock back down. (Could be real too, but it is a dirty game the traders play).

If this happens maybe the value will go up on the bikes we own now. They could be the last of the real deal.
Of course most will probably want to keep them forever.

Change of owner means little. Cash will trade hands, little else will change. Remember, sales are slow already for the current owners. Who cares who owns it when the **** hits the fan? The current owners can cheapen the bike up just as easy as new owners.

Without a big change in the economy, HD is doomed as it's current form.
Cut dealerships, cut production, or be saved by a re emerging economy.
Same deal, whoever owns the company.

i have a 98 i just rebuilt the engine on, now i'm seriously considering getting me a 2010 model because this is how it ends... if HD is taken over you pretty much can guarantee most manufacturing will be moved overseas to increase the bottom line, and sold with the HD tag. because the suits wouldn't realize that harley's made outside america at ridiculous pricetags are not really a draw. it won't happen overnight but within ten years they'll have a manufacturing plant in india or mexico.

greed killed HD, focusing on selling garbage clothing so dealers were burried in inventory they couldn't move, giving motorcycle loans to people who never should've gotten them and now can't repay.

too bad... i may witness my two favorite things budweiser and harley die within years of one another.
