A lot of different reasons really; Rode on the back of my mom's boyfriend's DUO Glide when I was like 8 or 9 in the early 60's. Easy Rider movie. When all my friends starting buying them in the early 80's. Sturgis Rally, where I live, and I just thought that they always sounded cool and looked cool too is the main reason.
