I love my bell 500. I agree with the o/p that it changed my opinion on dot helmets. I have got the flat black. I want to get a flake finish for my girl. I wear a large in hd helmets and a large in bell as well. The bell is nice and snug and stays put. Also love the retro visor they offer

i've tried on the Biltwell, the Bell 500, and the Fulmer V2...i settled on the Fulmer v2 and i sweat this is the helmet I should have bought 2 years ago! i usually wear a large, but i went with a medium so it would be snug on the ears...HCI carbon fiber half helmet lifts more than this thing....muffles the wind noise really nice...gonna install some speakers in there i think....

save you bucks...go to a HD dealer and buy a fulmer v2...you won't regret it...

Default Bell Custom 500 helmet FIT

Hey upNorthIron, did the Bell Custom 500 small fit you? My head measures about a 22 1/4 or 1/8 like yours. I got a medium and it's not snug enough. I'm thinking of returning it for a small. But thinking once the small breaks in, it'll be lose. So, then I'm thinking of XS. Let me know how yours is. I'd appreciate any info. Thanks.

I've owned both the Bell 500 and the Fulmer V2.

I still have the Fulmer.

Both are great but for me the Fulmer just sat lower and was a slightly lighter, better fit. The 500 has a nicer build quality with the metal flake and inner stitching, but the fit was just better with the V2. Sitting lower was the deal breaker. That said, I still prefer to go "all-natural"... I'm probably going to pick up a Biltwell for my trips to NY in the warmer weather... Hate the skid lids I have...

have any of you all with Bell 500 had them rotate back due to how high the back of the helmet is cut?

I just purchased my first 3/4 helmet and it rotates back easy. I am sure I have purchased the correct size since it fits the top and sides of my head/face correctly.

I have the fishscale Bell 500 Custom. I normally wear a large but got a medium. It was tight at first but is comfortable now. Well made fiberglass helmet.
After 30 years as a paramedic/firefighter I always wear a DOT, skid lids give about as much protection as a ball cap. It's your choice. Kurt

Broke down and ordered a Biltwell non-DOT to see what all the fuss is about. Didn't get to ride with it yet due to the shyt weather here, but it's definitely smaller and lighter than my V2.
