Default Help!! need urgent advice

My son just called, he bought an '08 Night Rod, not previously titled. It was shipped to him from Illinois yesterday. He took his first ride today. His key fell out of the ignition while riding with the fob. He can't locate it. He had not programmed any code into the system to override the security. He does not have a second fob but has a second key. Is there any way to get the bike started, or need it be towed to the dealer?

Read the manual. You use the hand controls to manually enter the code

I think the fob needs to be present, or am I mistaken?

You can enter all 9's as a default and the bike will start. You will have to go through the procedure everytime you start the bike until the security code is reset

The fob does not need to be present. It is the same procedure you would use if you had a dead battery in the fob. Most people do not know their security code. Just remember to enter all 9's if you loose the fob or if your battery dies.

Um read the post "He had not programmed any code".

Aren't most new bikes shipped with 1111 or 1234 as the code? And I am assuming it's new as you stated it was untitled.

If you are on good terms with your local dealer ask them. Or maybe shoot "DAWG"
a PM. If anyone on here will know it would be him.

Huh? Not doubting you but what good would a secuity system be if this is the case? Or is this just for new bikes that have no codes?

The code can be set to any #'s you want. Since no one has changed the #'s yet, he needs to punch in the factory default code.

So 9999 is the factory default. I was thinking 1111 or 1234. Damn that's a lot of button pushing..
