Wednesday and I'm off
Got a comp day for working last weekend and the temps are supposed to be in the mid 80's and a little breezy wind wise but I'm thinking a may have to make my first trip for the year down to Palo Duro Canyon.
It irks me I have to give up my weekends to work and I get time off when those I want to be with are at work and I have to go solo. Still a day riding solo is a ton better then a day at work!
Anybody else get comp days?

I'm in the military and work in aircraft maintenance and they stagger our days off to have 24/7 coverage. My days off are thur-fri and the only way i get a comp day is if they make me work through my weekend due to the mission. I'm a solo rider so it really doesn't bother me that much.

I spent 13 yrs as a maintenance officer/test pilot. I understand working all kinds of hours.

Wednesday turned out perfect. Headed out toward Palo Duro Canyon about 10:45. Still a little cool but warmed very quickly.
Temperature in the mid 80's and light winds with a perfect blue sky and lots of open road.
Once to the canyon it was to the scenic overlook for a little lunch, a couple of beers a few pictures and a siesta.
Finally after a few hours and a couple of pisses it was time to head home.
Miles and miles passes without seeing anyone or any other vehicles. Where else is it so desolate you can take a picture in the middle of the road on your *** without worrying about getting run over?
Sucks that it was all solo today but a hell of a lot better then being at work.

I have 3 days and 5 hours of comp time left at work! That is some desolate slab over there! Looks like you would have better luck seeing a rattle snake crossing the road than anything else.

A couple more pictures. I took one with my work provided BlackBerry and sent it to the guys I work with just to rub in that I was off work and they were not.
A little while later I got this picture back with the reply, "This is just not the same".
I gotta admit I thought it was pretty funny.
