Default RPM Vs. Speed limit

Ever find that a particular speed limit is just a pain in the a$$. I have alot of 40mph zones on my commute. For my bike 40mph is kind of "in between" 3rd and 4th....meaning the rpm's are a little high in 3rd and kinda lugging in 4th. Ever run into this?

There is a lot of throttle response in that range.

not really, the 6 speed seems not to have that problem.

I have a friend with a Yamaha. Whenever we go riding and he takes the lead, in town, it seems that it's a PITA to match his speed without constantly shifting up and down.

There was a thread recently about lugging the motor, if you don't crank on it at low speed I find that I can pull much lower mph, and rpm and just loaf along. If you're wanting to be on the power band then, yes you will have problems.

For me it's just mental. There are certain hold speeds that in my head I have a hard time holding w/o looking at the gage all the damn time. Riding with others I notice that I tend to ride with a little more RPM than a lot of guys do so it's not really the bikes fault but rather mine.

No one ever mentioned it before but yes, I do notice some speeds are just a pain - up/down/up/down trying to find the most comfortable gear. You can always wind it up but it seems silly to be puttering along at 3000 RPM.
